Congress
Urmia, 27–29 August 2026 — Vahdat Hall, Urmia University of Medical Sciences
The Congress of Neurosurgery and Spine Surgeons for Iran’s North-West region convened in Urmia on 27–29 August 2026 at Vahdat Hall, Urmia University of Medical Sciences. The three-day programme brought together neurosurgeons, spine specialists, and industry partners for scientific sessions, an exhibition of surgical technology, and a formal awards ceremony. Prof. Guive Sharifi — board-certified neurosurgeon and Professor of Neurosurgery — took part as a speaker and as a presenter of congress awards.
Organised under the Iranian Society of Neurological Surgeons, the Urmia meeting focused on contemporary brain and spine surgery across the North-West region of Iran. Sessions were held at Vahdat Hall, with supporting institutions including Urmia University of Medical Sciences and Urmia International Medical Center (Milad Hospital).
The scientific programme combined lectures, case discussion, and an exhibition floor featuring surgical technology partners. The congress branding highlighted both regional identity — including Urmia’s historic landmarks — and the clinical themes of cranial and spinal neurosurgery.
Prof. Guive Sharifi addressed the congress from the main podium and later joined colleagues on stage for the awards programme. His dual role — scientific speaker and presenter of congress honours — reflects ongoing engagement with national neurosurgical education beyond his clinics in Dubai and Tehran.
The meeting also included presentations by colleagues, among them Dr Ali Jafari. Together these sessions underscored the collaborative character of regional neurosurgery: sharing technique, recognising contribution, and connecting academic centres across Iran.
Alongside the lecture hall, Prof. Sharifi’s team visited exhibition booths, including surgical technology stands such as Aesculap, meeting industry partners who support contemporary cranial and spinal procedures.
Photographs from the congress also record time with colleagues Mahshid Kamangari and Ava Rajabi, and with Nio Sharifi. These images sit alongside the scientific and ceremonial record of the meeting — a portrait of the people who travel with a busy neurosurgical practice to national academic events.
